Each week there will be two winners -- one scholarship will be awarded for the entry with the most votes and one scholarship will be awarded for the entry scored the highest by our judging team.
Vote for an entry by going to the "Entries" tab in the navigation at the top of the page then clicking "Weekly Contest" – this is where you'll find the galleries for every week in the competition so far. Click on the latest gallery and check out some stories by clicking through the photos! When you're ready to vote for someone, click "Vote For This Entry" while viewing their entry page. Voting only stays open for the current week but you can still look through previous weekly submissions for inspiration. You can only vote once per 24 hours per entry.
Yes, you can vote for as many entries as you’d like but you will only be able to vote once per entry within a 24 hour period.
Yes! It’s possible to win one weekly scholarship and still be eligible for one of the grand prize contest scholarships. You aren’t able to win multiple weekly scholarships though.
Letters of recommendation are only required if you make it to the final round of the grand prize scholarship competition. Semi-finalists will be announced by October 16 and we’ll let you know if we need one from you. You'll only have one week to send us the recommendation letter after we've shared the news though, so it would be a good idea to talk to your reference before then. Make sure to give them enough time to write you an outstanding letter!
Of course you can, but it is definitely not required. Please make sure they are appropriate and don’t violate any of your internship company privacy or safety policies. All videos will be screened and unedited footage is best.
Yes, you can still apply if you’re about to graduate, as long as you’re currently enrolled as a student. If you win a scholarship and have already graduated from school, the scholarship money will be used to pay for your remaining tuition debt or student loans. If you don’t have any outstanding loans, the scholarship money will be paid directly to you after you complete a W-9 form.
We suggest that you focus on your most recent internship but you can include experiences from any internship that took place between January 2018 - August 2019.
Your current number of votes is displayed on your entry page. The highest voting counts will be posted on our leaderboard and updated hourly.
You may only submit one weekly scholarship entry per week.
In order to uphold the integrity of the contest, we monitor site activity and investigate duplicate votes. We will remove votes that we have determined are invalid. If you see a drop in your voting count, it’s due to this system clean-up. Our goal is not to penalize anyone, just to keep things fair for all participants.
If the “Vote For This Entry” button is not visible on an entry page, the voting round has closed for that weekly contest. Voting only stays open for the current week, starting on Tuesday at 11:00am (CT) and ending on Monday at 11:00 am (CT). You can only vote once per 24 hours per entry.
After you've submitted your entry, you can earn votes by encouraging friends and family to view your entry and click "Vote For This Entry" on your entry page. You can use social media to help promote your entry but all voting takes place on our website.
Scholarship winners are announced on the Tuesday afternoon after a contest has closed. Results are posted to our Facebook Group (2019 Construction Intern Awards), Instagram (@learnconstruction), and website homepage. Winners will then receive a personal email with the next steps for accepting the scholarship.
All scholarships will be disbursed at the end of the entire competition so that we can ship all payments at the same time. After we have collected your information and you have verified your award letter, we will send the scholarship check to your school.
