Growing up, I always enjoyed working with my hands and building things. Throughout various organizations, mostly boy scouts, I was offered an abundance of leadership positions in which I was able to grow and improve myself. Ultimately, I achieved the rank of Eagle, but just as important – I learned critical skills that I use and will continue to use throughout my life.
My dad, being an IT project manager, seemed to share a lot of the same thought processes and work ethic. Naturally, between my desire to get into the construction field coupled with my knowledge of project management, I felt that pursuing a career in construction management was the most logical choice. I wanted to go into career where I was challenged and my daily tasks were diverse. Since concluding my third co-op, I feel more than confident in my decision to enter the construction industry. I feel that each phase of every job offers unique challenges; more importantly, each phase offers a sense of accomplishment.
