I am a Junior Civil Engineering Major at Ohio Northern University. I am also a volunteer firefighter, as well as a Veteran, and am currently serving in the United States Air Force as a heavy equipment operator. Obviously, I don’t have much spare time, but in the limited spare time I have, I thoroughly enjoy carpentry as well as metal working and fabricating. I chose to do an internship in construction for multiple reasons. I have always been interested in this industry, since the time I could barely talk. I grew up around heavy equipment, and loved anything to do with construction. Because of this, I chose being an operator as my career field in the military. Then, once I got off active duty, it was a natural fit for me to continue my career path in the industry. Most importantly, our roadways and bridges were mainly built during President Eisenhower’s administration in the 50’s. They are outdated and failing, and I wanted to do what I could to help repair and replace these critical parts to our daily lives as Americans.
