My view of the construction industry is that of an outsider, before college, I had never stepped foot on a construction site. However, when I graduate, from Boise State University’s Construction Management program in December of 2018, I will have completed five internships with four different companies across the United States. In my time as an intern, I’ve received the opportunity to learn a diverse background of construction-related operations, ranging from rough carpentry to bidding on a construction project.
One day I plan on being in a management position, however, before that happens I intend to gain as much field experience as possible. Before I can earn a spot in management, it’s important to know I need two degrees, one from the school, and one from the field. The field experience I’ve gained as an intern will apply to my career in the future; this is the main reason I do internships in construction.
