My name is Kaiden Brungard and I am a Civil Engineering student at West Virginia University. Growing up I have always been a part or around construction. My Father is a Civil Engineer and I have been fascinated with building and designing structures ever since I visited him at work in elementary school. I always thought I wanted to be a bridge designer, so for the first three summers of college I was a construction laborer actually building the bridges I one day hoped to be designing. I was a part of various bridge replacement and rehab projects throughout my time as a laborer. I learned multiple construction methods and techniques used on every part of a bridge.
I wanted to implement my hands-on experience and knowledge to my future designing career, but after three long summers of laboring I couldn’t see myself anywhere else but on a construction site. Instead of getting my last internship with a design firm, I was fortunate enough to receive an internship with Trumbull Corporation as a structures intern working on one of the largest bridge construction projects in Pennsylvania history.
