I am a sophomore at Villanova University studying Civil Engineering and Business. I am an Eagle Scout, an avid skier, and have a fascination with construction. I remember driving by construction sites as a kid and staring in awe at the all the activity and progress going on around it. When it came time to decide my major, I chose Civil Engineering because of my interest in construction and my proficiency in math and physics. I also decided to pursue a Business minor because of my desire to do construction management.
This summer, I worked as an estimating intern for Kinsley Construction in the Timonium, Maryland office. I chose to do an internship in construction because I wanted to get out and explore the many aspects of the construction industry. Construction has such a wide variety of companies, careers, and trades. From the development and design side to the general and subcontracting side, I wanted to learn as much as possible about each aspect in order to further define my future job. In addition, I wanted to feed my fascination with construction by gaining actual experience and working with professionals who have so much experience and knowledge of the industry. These connections will offer me a nearly endless supply of help and advice as I begin my work in construction.
