I grew up knowing that I’ve always wanted to be an engineer, but never knew what kind of engineer I specifically wanted to be. I never saw college as an option until my senior year of high school when I was accepted into six universities for engineering. That wasn’t until I did Construction Technology in the Engineering & Construction Academy at my high school for three years excelling in Architecture, Carpentry, Masonry, and Woodworking. Once I became a builder, I knew that I wanted to find a career in these trades and be able to watch my work transform from a drawing on paper into a real life structure. I’ve always wanted to be able to come back and look at my work saying, “Wow, I built/designed this.”
Construction became a thing of beauty to me and I have a soft spot for beauty. Beauty is what pushes me to build a structure to it’s fullest potential and give the best finish possible so that when people see it, they can only stare in amazement at the art that’s been created. In simplest terms, construction is a beauty of art that I love being able to be apart of and makes me feel proud of what I enjoy doing as my career.
