My name is Colin McCabe and I study Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University. I was born in Ellicott City, Maryland and attended Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland. I chose an internship in construction because I am pursuing a career in the field and I wanted to gain a better knowledge of the industry outside of the classroom. I have been interested in construction since I was young, attending habitat for humanity work camps every summer from 8th grade to senior year of high school. After choosing Civil Engineering as a major, I wanted to see construction on a bigger scale. In addition to this, I wanted to get a better feel for where I fit in the future, whether it be in the field and on the site, or with estimating in the office. I believed an internship was the right choice for my development as a student and as a future engineer and that is why I pursued the opportunity.
