From the time I was a kid to now I have always been interested in construction. My father was a carpenter and he showed me the ins and outs of construction, and while in high school I took multiple shop classes. I knew I always wanted to have a future in the construction field, but I didn’t know where specifically. As a person I am an active worker, whether that be in school, sports, or my job so I wanted to be in an upbeat career field, and with my high level of interest in construction it was easy to choose this path. After my first two years in college I was ready to tackle my first internship. I applied to multiple companies and had a few interviews, but they went with a different direction. Then an estimating internship at Kelley Construction was presented to me and I could not pass up such a great opportunity. I wanted to further my knowledge in the field which I would be spending my career in, and this internship was a perfect opportunity to get my foot in the door and learn the ropes of the industry.
