My name is Danny Groudle and I am a third year student studying Agricultural engineering at The Ohio State University. I was born in Cleveland Ohio and have been absolutely fascinated by engineering and anything to do with creating or building since I can remember.
Going into college I was unsure of the engineering route that I wanted to go for and then an opportunity was presented to me to work in the civil engineering field. This summer and the summer before I interned for The Great Lakes Construction Co. Before these internships I had never been around a construction site and had no idea how much work and preparation went into each and every part of the construction process. So, to say the least the last two summers with Great Lakes have been a wonderful learning experience for me and has certainly helped me on my way to becoming an engineer.
The main reason that I wanted to try construction for an internship was to be a part of the building process for structures that thousands of people use every day. I wanted to go by something that I worked on and could say, “I helped build that” because I think that is coolest part of construction. So many parts of modern day life are taken for granted and many are possible because of the work of heavy civil engineering companies like Great Lakes.
