My name is Carlos J. Sahagun and I was raised in the construction world. My father worked in the trenches and he has taught me everything he knows throughout my life and sparked my interest for the engineering and construction fields. I was hooked from a young age, claiming I wanted to go to college to become a developer ever since I was in kindergarten. My days still consist of school and being surrounded by yellow machinery, the only difference is now the machines are much bigger than my tonka trucks and now I attend Sacramento State University. I began my professional career at Placer County Water Agency as a Data Management intern soon after graduating high school in an effort to get my foot in the door of the construction and engineering field. My year there was a rewarding educational experience that helped me realize that I love construction and I couldn’t wait to advance my career. After one year I accepted an internship as an Engineering Inspector for the City of Roseville where I learned even more about underground utilities and I also realized that I wanted to work in the private industry where I could be more hands on. Thus I began to pursue other opportunities and was fortunate enough to be offered a position with Teichert Construction as an intern in the Underground department.
