I am currently going into my Senior year at Kent State University in the Construction Management Major, with a Concentration in Safety. In January of this year I started my first internship with Independence Excavating. I couldn’t have chosen a more better fit even if I tried, with this company. When I declared my major two Summers ago, I wanted to be sure that what I chose as my major was the right decision, and it was the best one I could have made. I have been around the Construction Industry growing up, and it is by far the most interesting field to get into. I chose to do an internship not only because it’s what I love to do, but also to gain real world knowledge; not just out of books and classrooms. I am so glad that I got to complete my internship with the Safety Department, because it has shown me that I can help people on a day to day basis, with something that is so important to have ingrained not only in a company but in its Safety Culture. Seeing what I was taught come to life is simply amazing, and has given me so much knowledge that I can take with me and use for the rest of my life.
