Internship from May 2, 2016 — August 31, 2016
I am Fernando Villarreal, an Engineering Major at Wayne State University. I work for RBV contracting as an intern with the title of Administrative Assistant because I want to pursue a career in the construction industry.
What results did you achieve on the internship, and how did you exceed the company's expectations for your role?
I did numerous tasks that involved a bit of smarts. I took charge of tracking all trucking tickets for all jobs, purchase any material required on the fly, and am in charge of updating the company website.
What did you learn in this internship that will affect your life in a positive way?
Balancing, scheduling and prioritizing the important events or deadlines in the best way.
How were you involved with safety and/or quality during your internship, and how did that change your perspective on construction?
I took a CPR certification class and confined spaces class. When visiting a job site, I was required to wear both high visibility and a hard hat as PPE. I understand that safety is one of the most important aspects of working in construction,
After reviewing www.IBuildAmerica.com, tell us what I Build America means to you?
Construction is the base of all modern life; without construction there would be no roads, running water, storm drainage, etc. I feel that I Build America is a great way to show common people how necessary construction is to improve infrastructure and maintain I high standard of living in the United States.
